How to Create Contact Segments with Patch AI

1. Open Contacts and launch the Patch AI sidebar 0:15

  • Go to Contacts.
  • Open the Patch AI sidebar.
  • This is where you’ll create a segment using a natural-language prompt instead of manual filters.

 

2. Enter a clear segment prompt 0:15

  • Type the type of contacts you want to find.
  • Example: "find contacts who are opted in to SMS".
  • Patch AI will translate your prompt into segment rules automatically.

 

3. Review the generated segment rules 0:39

  • Check the rules Patch AI created before applying them.
  • Make sure the rules match the audience you intended.
  • If the rules look correct, use the segment.

 

4. Verify the segment results 0:51

  • Always review the returned contacts after generating the segment.
  • Confirm the results actually match your target audience.
  • If the results look off, adjust the prompt and try again.

 

5. Use a more specific example to refine the segment 1:10

  • Example prompt: "find customers who have a birthday in 30 days".
  • Patch AI generates a relative-date rule for birthdays.
  • Review the logic to ensure it captures the intended date range.

 

6. Confirm the logic and match count 1:26

  • Inspect the generated condition carefully.
  • In the example, the birthday rule is interpreted as a date range around the next 30 days.
  • Check the number of matches and verify at least one result is truly in range.

 

7. Finalize and use the segment 1:42

  • Once the rules and results look correct, the segment is ready to use.
