      Using Email Snippets in Patch Retention

      Email Snippets are reusable sections like headers and footers that save time and keep emails consistent. Edits to a snippet update automatically across all emails, including past designs, scheduled Blasts, and live Automations.

      What Are Email Snippets?

      Email Snippets are reusable content blocks (like a header, footer, or promo section) that you can drag and drop into your emails. They're designed to save time, keep branding consistent, and make updates easier across all your messages.

      Key Benefits of Email Snippets

      • Preloaded for You
        Every account comes with a Default Header and Footer, automatically added to all emails. These pull from your Brand Settings for a consistent look.

      • Easy to Customize
        You can edit the default snippets or create your own to match your branding, promotions, and marketing needs.

      • Global Updates
        When you update a snippet, the change applies retroactively to:

        • All email designs where that snippet is used

        • Scheduled and future Blasts

        • Active Automations
          You don’t have to manually update each campaign—Patch takes care of it.

      • Save Time and Stay Consistent
        Build once, reuse forever. Ideal for commonly repeated sections such as:

        • Loyalty and Rewards balances

        • How to join the Loyalty Program

        • Shop by Category or Collection

        • Promotions and Events

        • Hours, Directions, Return Policies

      How to Use Snippets

      1. To Create a New Snippet

        • Click the ( + ) button

        • Name your snippet at the top

        • Drag and drop a layout, or drag over an existing snippet

        • Add content blocks as needed

      2. To Edit an Existing Snippet

        • You’ll have two options:

          • Global Edit: Changes update everywhere that snippet is used (including in Blasts and Automations)

          • Local Edit: Duplicate the existing snippet for a one-time change that only applies to the current email

      Important Notes

      • By duplicating a snippet, you can tailor it for a specific email without affecting its use in other communications. This allows you to make unique modifications for an individual message while preserving the original snippet for all other instances.

      • Brand Settings Inheritance: Snippets automatically adopt your logo, colors, and other brand elements. When you make updates to your Settings > Account Details > Brand Settings, these changes will seamlessly apply to all existing emails that utilize global snippets, affecting both past and future communications.

      • Saving Your Work
        Use the floppy disk icon (top-right) to save as you go. Email building can take time, and saving regularly helps prevent data loss due to session timeouts.

      • Dynamic Business Info
        For deliverability reasons, your footer should include account info like:

        • Business Name

        • Address

        • Phone Number

        These values pull directly from your Account Settings > Account Details, and can be updated anytime.
