From abandoned carts to goals hit, completed purchases, and newly created contacts, you can create custom and personalized automations that drive customers back time and time again.
Not all customers are the same, use automations to start targeting them that way.
This article will walk through all of the features the Automations Main View includes and how to use those features.
Note: Unless otherwise specified the term ‘messages’ refers to SMS, MMS, and Emails.

Data Table
The Automations data table is where you can find a complete list of Automations, their details, and statistics that exist on your account. The data table is sorted by default in the following order:
- The Enabled status from enabled (active) to disabled (inactive)
- Last Updated from most recent to least recent
- Date Created from most recent to least recent
Filter Table Options
The Automations data table can be filtered in several ways. Click the drop-down menu you would like to filter by and select an option from the list.
By default, each filter will be set to ‘All Channels’, ‘All States’, and ‘All types’. These filter options will not be visible in the drop-down menu unless an option is currently selected and appear as ‘Select Channel’, ‘Select State’, and ‘Select Type’ in the inactive drop-down menu state.
To clear your option click the ‘X’ to the right of your current filter selection.
To change your selected filter click the drop-down menu again.
Filter by the Channel
There are three channels that are used within Automations: SMS, MMS, and Email. The data table can be filtered to show only the Automations that include the type of channel you are interested in viewing.
Filter by the Status
There are four statuses that Automations can have: Draft, Sent, Scheduled, and Running. The data table can be filtered to show only the Automations that include the type of status you are interested in viewing.
Filter by the Type
There are three Automations types: One time, Triggered, and Recurring. The data table can be filtered to show only the Automations that include the type you are interested in viewing.
Sort Table by Columns
Each column has an icon that is stacked up and down arrows which when clicked will change the order of the sort on the data table. The data table can only be sorted by one column at a time. Note: At this time the Channels column cannot be used to sort the order of the table.
The data table is sorted by default in the following order:
- The Enabled status from enabled (active) to disabled (inactive)
- Last Updated from most recent to least recent
- Date Created from most recent to least recent
Search the table by Column/Field
The search field can be used to search the fields of the data table for matching results.
Edit Table View (add or remove columns from the data table)
This feature includes the ability to manage different views for your Automations data table. With this drop-down, you have access to:
Main View (default)
The main view includes the most common fields used in the Automations data table.
Select Additional Fields
Fields can be selected to add additional fields to the current data table view, save in the current saved view, or save within a new saved view.
Search by field name
Search fields by their name for a quick lookup.
Unselected Fields
A list of unselected fields in the current data table view. Select one of these to view in the current data table, save in the current saved view, or save to a new view.
Saved Views
The saved views section is where data table views can be selected, created, and updated.
Saved View Drop-Down
Select from a list of saved views to quickly change to your previously saved data table views.
Save Icon
Save the current list of selected fields as a view to access from the saved views drop-down in the future.
How to save a new view:
- Create a list of selected fields
- Order the list
- Click the Save icon (top middle next to the saved views drop-down)
- Select the “Save as…” drop-down
- Name your field view with the Field Set Name input
- If you would like this view to be the first view when you visit or refresh the Automations page then select the checkbox for “Make this the default for the Automations page.”
- Choose to overwrite an existing view by selecting the name of the data table view you would like to overwrite
- Save the view as a new data table view by selecting “Save as new”
Manage columns in your current data table view
You can manage the fields that currently show within your data table from the field manager to best suit your needs.
Features
- Add a field to the data table view
- Remove a field from the data table view
- Reorder the columns of the data table view
Steps to add a field:
- Click the field manager
- Find the “Unselected Fields” section (right side)
- From within “Unselected Fields” click the gray square to the left of the field type you would like to add to the data table
- On selection of a field, the field will:
- Be added to the list of Selected Fields on the left side of the field manager
- Be added as the rightmost columns on the data table
- Persist as a selected field until the page is reloaded, the view is saved or is saved to a new view
Steps to remove a field:
- Click the field manager
- Find the “Selected Fields” section (left side)
- From within “Selected Fields” uncheck the field you would like to remove from the data table view
- On deselection of the field, the field will
- Be removed from the “Selected Fields” list
- Be removed from the current data table view
- Persist as an Unselected Field until the page is reloaded, the view is saved or is saved to a new view
Steps to reorder the fields:
- Click the field manager
- Find the “Selected Fields” section (left side)
- Find the field you would like to move
- To the right of the field, there are three lines
- Click and drag the three lines up or down
- Drop the field in the place where you want it to be
- When the field is dropped
- The field will persist in its place until the page is reloaded
- The field will be reordered on the current data table view
Create New Automation
Click the purple button with the ‘+’ icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the page to create a new Automation. For detailed instructions on setting up an Automations click here.
Paginator
Rows Per Page
This feature allows you to see how many pages are currently showing for each page on the data table.
To change how many contacts (rows) you would like to see per page click the down arrow and select from 10, 25, 50, or 100 contacts per page options.
Pages
The pages feature of the paginator shows:
- First Number: the page you are currently on
- Second Number: the total number of pages
- Total Number of Records: the total number of contacts (rows) in your database
Refresh
Click this button to refresh the data table with the most up-to-date information.
Previous Page Button
Click this button to navigate to the previous page on the data table. If it is grayed out and unclickable This means you are currently on page 1 and a previous page does not exist.
Next Page Button
Click this button to navigate to the next page on the data table. If it is grayed out and unclickable This means you are currently on the last page and a next page does not exist.
Data Table Action Items (First Column)
Edit Icon
Opens the Automations canvas editor.
Delete Icon
Deletes the Automations from the account.
Duplicate Icon
Duplicates the Automations.
View Stats Icon
The fourth icon in the actions column (the first column of the data table) allows you to view statistics attributed to the automation. Multiple dialogs may be opened at the same time in order to easily compare the performance of multiple Automations.
Data Table Columns/Fields
The data table columns (also referred to as fields) are at the top of the data table. Below is a complete list of available fields on the Automations data table and the definition for the value.
Name
The name of the Automations.
Channel
The channel(s) the Automations used for messaging customers. Channels include SMS, MMS, and Email.
Status
The status of the Automations. Statuses include Draft, Sent, Scheduled, and Running.
Account ID
The account ID and name the Automation was created from.
Last Run Time
The last time the Automationswas in the ‘running’ status.
Next Run Time
The next time the Automations is scheduled to run. Note: Applies to any Automations. If the Automation has a block that is set to run in the future the date and time of that value in the block will populate this field value in the data table.
# Bounced
The total number of messages that were known to bounce when sent from the Automations.
# Clicked
The total number of known times a message was clicked from within the Automations.
# Contacts
The total number of contacts that the Automations reached. Note: This sum is based on the contact’s id; a duplicate contact in your database would count twice.
# Conversions
The total number of conversions from order finished and check-in finished events that are attributed to the Automations. Note: Orders that were refunded are excluded from the count.
# Delivered
The total number of messages that were sent from the Automations and known to be delivered.
# Opened
The number of messages that were sent from the Automations and known to be opened.
# Opt-outs
The total number of times a contact opted out from messages sent from within the Automations.
# Sent
The total number of messages sent from within the Automations.
# Redemptions
The total number of SmartOffer redemptions attributed to the messages sent from within the Automations.
Archived
Whether the Automations is archived or not.
ID
The ID of the Automations.
Last Clicked Time
The last time a message was clicked from a message sent from within the Automations.
Last Opened Time
The last time a message was opened from a message sent from within the Automations.
Tasks
The total number of tasks the Automations has run.
Tasks Done
The total number of tasks the Automations completed.
Total Revenue
The total amount of revenue generated from the Automations messages.
Performance Metrics
To see performance metrics for Automations click the 'Graph' icon.
In the Performance View, you will find all of the metrics associated with sending an SMS/MMS or Email Automations including:
- Customers Reached (Unique Contacts)
- The total number of customers reached by messages within the automation.
- Messages Sent
- The total number of messages sent from within the automation.
- Bounced/Bounce Rate
- The total number of messages that were known to bounce when sent from the automation.
- The total number of messages that were known to bounce when sent from the automation.
- Clicks/Click Rate
- The total number of known times any message was clicked from within the automation.
- The total number of known times any message was clicked from within the automation.
- Total Conversions/Conversion Rate
- The total amount of revenue generated from the automation’s messages. Note: Revenue calculations use the purchase amount first and the account’s AOV as a fallback.
- The total number of messages that have a conversion attributed to them compared to the total number of messages sent.
- The total amount of revenue generated from the automation’s messages. Note: Revenue calculations use the purchase amount first and the account’s AOV as a fallback.
- Total Revenue/Avg Revenue
- The total amount of revenue generated from the automation’s messages. Note: Revenue calculations use the purchase amount first and the account’s AOV as a fallback.
- The average amount of revenue generated from each automation’s messages. Note: Revenue calculations use the purchase amount first and the account’s AOV as a fallback.
- The total amount of revenue generated from the automation’s messages. Note: Revenue calculations use the purchase amount first and the account’s AOV as a fallback.
- Total Redemptions/Redemption Rate
- The total number of discount codes/gift cards (Shopify users only) or SmartOffers (Kiosks users only) redeemed from content within the messages sent from the automation.
- The total number of messages that have a redemption attributed compared to the total number of messages sent.
- The total number of discount codes/gift cards (Shopify users only) or SmartOffers (Kiosks users only) redeemed from content within the messages sent from the automation.
