How to add a new Field
This will be a tutorial on how to add a Field for your contacts. For a rundown on fields, check out the Contact Fields article.
- On the Fields home screen, click on the orange button, Add Field.
- Once you've clicked on this, a pop-up will open up:
- Field Name: Give the field a name. Remember to keep this as clear as possible — you want to know exactly what the field is for when you see it.
- Field Key: Once you've typed in a name for your field, the system will automatically generate a key for you. We recommend not messing with this unless it's to make the name more clear and easier to understand.
- Data Type: Make sure you choose wisely on which Type you select. The Type selected will be determined by how you want to see the information within the field, and what you want to do with it. (Click Here for more info on Data Types)
- Choose from the following options:
- Choose from the following options:
- Advanced Options: Depending on the Data Type you choose, you may be given some additional options (not all Data Types provide Advanced Options).
- Multiple values: By default, a field will only hold one value. However, if you'd like to have a Field hold more then one value. Do the following steps:
- Click on the blue Advanced Options (If that Data Type has Advanced Options, then a drop-down will appear)
- Click Allow multiple values....
- If you want to provide your customer with options to select from, you'll want to add available options to this field. Do this by clicking on the orange box Add option to select from. Add as many options as you'd like to offer.
- Multiple values: By default, a field will only hold one value. However, if you'd like to have a Field hold more then one value. Do the following steps:
- Permissions: This is only relevant if you have multiple employee CityGro accounts with varying levels of visibility. These accounts are often referred to as Admin, Parent, or Child accounts. (Please ignore if you only have one account)
- To determine what CityGro users can see or make changes to it. This can be done by clicking the little "lock" button in the lower lefthand corner of the New Field modal window.
- In this menu, you can set the permissions of both Parent and Child accounts.
- Once all done, click Save. That Field is now ready to be used!
All ready to go, Congratulations!
