Getting Started
First, log in to the Patch Retention portal at app.patchretention.com.
Navigate to the 'Kiosk' module and click the (+) button in the lower right corner to 'Create a New Kiosk Flow'.
You'll be prompted to name your new kiosk flow, marking the first step in customizing your customer's journey.
The Welcome Page
By default, a 'Welcome Page' is added to every new kiosk flow. This is your first opportunity to make a great impression. Customize this page with a unique background image or a slideshow of images to set the tone. The 'Welcome Page' is not just a greeting; it's a branding opportunity that makes your gun range memorable. For sign-in options you can use either email or phone number, Patch recommends using a Phone Number. This method is quick, user-friendly, and allows for easy data capture and customer recognition on subsequent visits.
Adding More Pages
Click the (+) button in the lower left corner to start adding more pages to your kiosk flow. Each page you add can serve a specific purpose in the check-in process, collecting valuable information, and providing important updates to your customers.
Key Pages for a Gun Range Kiosk
This walkthrough will cover common usage of these pages for a Gun Range!
Fields Page
This crucial page is where customers input their basic information, such as First Name, Phone Number, Birthday, and Zip Code. It's important to add a background image and an optional header to maintain visual consistency.
Adding fields is straightforward: click 'Add New Field' and customize each field to your requirements. Making certain fields required ensures that you collect all the necessary information before a customer proceeds.
When selecting the button to add a new field, this page will appear:
First, you will need to choose the ‘Type’ of field you want to include. Then adjust the label for how the field appears, otherwise, it will auto-load the field label based on the ‘Type’ selection. You can also adjust the ‘Input Type’ if needed - this is usually adjusted for birthdays so you can determine the format of how the birthday date is stored to use later. You then have the option to make this field required, which means that a customer CANNOT continue to the next page in the flow unless this information is provided.
Here is an example of the ‘Fields Page’ being used:
Offers Page
Incorporating an 'Offers Page' is an excellent way to engage customers with loyalty or promotional offers. This not only enhances the customer experience but also promotes your marketing efforts directly at the point of entry.

Selection Page
The 'Selection Page' is versatile, used for capturing a range of customer preferences and consents, such as SMS opt-in, membership status, or reasons for visiting. The option to 'Remember past selections' enhances the user experience by streamlining the check-in process on subsequent visits.
Here are some examples of the ‘Selection’ page being used:
Are you a Member?
What type of customer are you?
What brings you here?
How did you hear about us?
Camera Page
For gun ranges, especially in states with specific regulations, capturing a photo of the visitor or their identification is crucial. The 'Camera Page' facilitates this seamlessly, storing the information securely in the customer's profile.
Video Page
A 'Video Page' can serve multiple purposes, from showcasing promotional content to providing essential safety briefings. This efficient method of information delivery ensures that all customers receive consistent messages.
Supported file formats up to 75 MB: .mp4 or .m4v
After uploading your video, click save. If you don't see the video in the flow builder after saving, refresh the page.
There are additional video settings on this page that can be adjusted as well, including Playback and Control options.
Waivers Page
The 'Waivers Page' is indispensable for gun ranges, ensuring that all legal and safety requirements are met. The flexibility of setting waiver completion frequencies—be it every visit, semi-annually, or annually—accommodates different types of waivers and customer interactions.
This ‘Waivers Page' can be used more than once if there is more than one waiver that needs to be completed. Different types of waivers can include Range Safety, Minor Waiver, General Rules, etc.
There are two checkbox options that will always display by default:
1. The option to email a copy of the document to the contact
2. There is a default checkbox that requires all users to agree to the Terms and Conditions.
Once you've selected your waiver, click save. If you don't see the waiver appear on your flow editor refresh the page.
Message Page
Finally, the 'Message Page' provides a flexible space for any custom messages, from a simple 'Thank You' or 'Loading' message to instructions for further action like 'Please see staff member'. This is your opportunity to leave a lasting impression or provide essential information as the check-in process concludes. This page can be used for when the check-in process is finished!
Setting up a kiosk for your gun range using the PatchRetention portal offers a streamlined, efficient, and engaging way to manage customer check-ins. By understanding the purpose and benefits of each page in the kiosk flow, you can create a customized experience that not only meets your operational needs but also enhances customer satisfaction. Remember, each page is an opportunity to connect with your customers, gather essential information, and promote your services effectively.
